Behind VIRGA stands the singular personality of Lionel MARAVAL whose passion for music started in the intimacy of his student room. This is where he comes across the overwhelming spleen of PORTISHEAD, the sharp guitars of The PIXIES and falls for the scabrous arrangements of RUBY. Wishing tu build his own musical universe, he starts working on some first tunes on his cousin's 486, borrowing samples from his multiples references.
A computer, adapted software, a mini disc player and a lot of sensitivity are enough for VIRGA to create complex compositions between post-electro and schizophrenic ambient. The atmospheres are ice cold, the sound waves and their strange distant elements draw an abstract world made of straight lines and perspectives, abruptly crossed with lost feelings that break any logical architecture. Such a revolted heart inside the cold cage of a brain. A discreet artist, away from all commercial approach, VIRGA hesitated for a while before trusting our structure to deal with his universe. Many discussions with friends and admirers were necessary to convince him to get his creations known. We genuinely believe in him and truly wish you will do the same.
