Biography

Tryphon is a Rhône-Alpes-based jazz-fusion band formed in 1986, with the joining of drummer Yves Pernet. The band started as a duo composed of Jean-Jacques Mouton (guitar) and Gil Coquard (bass), later joined by Eric Moulin (keyboards).
Self-taught for most of them, the members of Tryphon shared many musical experiences, in jazz (Jacques Bollognesi, Tony Ruso, Jean-Louis Longnon...) as well in variety (Liane Foly, Nilda Fernandez...). Varied musical universes which inflenced all the more the band's compositions.
Tryphon's music sounds like no other. Enriched by the amount of knowledge of its members, it also benefits from the quality of arrangements brought to the songs and from the variety of the means employed. It takes the listener away to a voluptuous universe soaked in a vaguely desperate wave of melancholy.
