Like a kid plays with Legos, Tom Poisson piles up words, links them and juggle them into fresh and simple songs, soaked in tenderness and nostalgia. Following a critically acclaimed 1st album and a solid tour (Francofolies de La Rochelle, Nuits botaniques, Festival de Montauban...), this second opus will charm without being soppy or heavy, far from cheap sentimental ballads but close to the islands where Salvador, Dutronc and Souchon walk about. It's not about breaking with the preceding album but about continuing to improve the work on material and to tell about oneself as simply as possible. As it seems, this 2nd album asks many new questions... "What am I becoming ?!", "What's holding me back ?" The wind, life, death, gardens, Chinese orange trees, seasons, seconds, the meaning of all this...
Such a neo-realist crooner, Poisson repaints the surrounding world as candid spectator with an either cynical or good-willing eye always elegantly creating songs with sweet melodies that will stay on your mind... Besides, Tom's itinerary is quite atypical... Actor and singer among very active Troupe du Phénix, he was part of the cast of "Petit monde de Georges Brassens" and not so long ago would travel the roads of france with horses and carts to perform (about 300 performances in 5 years). He would also at times stop by Parisian smoky bars to join melo-comical formation Les Fouteurs de Joie, with whom he likes to bond... Or - how ironical - as part of the show "In the Bocal" which mixed hip hop dance, contemporary dance, lyrical singing and comedy
So here we are, today Tom Poisson sings about a world that he likes. Jumping from one guitar to another like you change moods, backed up by keyboard fiddler and mad bass player Jean-Marc Pelatan, Alexandre Léauthaud on accordeon, Fred Pallem ("Le Sacre du Tympan"), instrumentalist and arranger for a couple of tracks, and the drums, percussions and vocals of Jean-François Seiller. So freshen up and dive without fear for the little fish (poisson=fish) is bound to become a great one... You won't be able to say we didn't warn you soon enough, run to see him live, now!!!
