Spoke Orkestra

A celebrated artist collective on France's slam scene, SPOKE ORKESTRA is known for its incomparable use of rhythm and combative/poetic lyrics. Founded in 2002 and originally singing exclusively a cappella, the group was joined by a composer in 2004.

At its core: three performers at the mike, NADA, D' de KABAL, FELIX J., each singing in their very own style, a prose with no concession. Their fantastic soundman Franco MANNARA occasionally turns into a unique one-man-band.

They are poetic and sometimes not... at any rate, their performances don't follow any norms and audiences are never left unmoved. SPOKE ORKESTRA makes you think and feel through its lyrics. Words are given back the full meaning and weight they deserve.

After " INTERDIT AUX MINEURS " (Asphaltiq / BMG - 2004), Spoke Orkestra is about to release its second album on October 15, 2007 entitled " SPOKE ORKESTRA n'existe pas " ( Basaata Productions / Musicast ) - a collection of urban tragedies drawing their inspiration from Baudelaire, The Velvet Underground and David Lynch. In its latest installment, the band makes a point to embrace literature, always staying away from warm and fuzzy feelings, and sings a cappella or against a powerful electronic background. Special guests include Serge Teyssot-Gay, Greg SLAP and Gilles Coronado.

Spoke Orkestra contributed, with four singles, to BOUCHAZOREILL' SLAM EXPERIENCE (Because Music - 14 MAI 2007) \ it also made special appearances at rallies (Mouvement, Greenpeace...) and on various stages (La Cartonnerie, Festival Mythos (Rennes), Cité Rap (St-Brieuc), Paroles et Musiques (St-Etienne), Lo Bolegason, Fête de l'Humanité, Francofolies de SPA, Bercy, Olympia...).

More than your regular band, Spoke Orkestra draws its uniqueness from artists that have distinct personalities, parallel projects and interests such as:
