Biography

Le Professeur Inlassable hasn't been Professeur Inlassable his whole life, he was once little Jean Dindinaud, a kid that spent more time eating his nails and thinking than doing wild Mick Jagger impersonations in front of his mirror. The mirror would have not handle it anyway. It is neither the Professeur's sister (at the time heavily listening to Caravan and early Genesis) that created the electric shock that will led him to love music and sound. It's something more like the strange mix of a live Tangerine Dream show and his first experiment as a drummer in a punk rock / no wave band that got him hooked up on the sonic side of life. "It was a time of raw punk, the anti matter of progressive rock... There was Magazine, Devo, Stranglers, Talkin Heads later, you could play without being skilled or "gifted". Pure expression.

Then our producer, Paul Benz, who worked for Island, pushed us to move to Paris and I felt into the advertising world..." Then love of words and sounds pushed Jean Dindinaud to the weird and exciting shores of the advertising world, wild wild world of creation and experimentations. "Working in a production office in the ad world put me in a listener position, the situation I'm the most confortable with, the one that makes you assimilate, synthetise, and of course pushes you to become a better actor in the music world. With my work in advertising, I learned to listen voices, to record and to understand own their rythm. Then I moved to sound design, to sound effect, mixes of textures, that soon became the solid basis of the record." Somewhere between Zen philosophy, freak show and a flea market, The Professeur Inlassable generates his own universe, harmonises the opposites, sums the sounds and makes the words rythm in his own language. Something like new history that flirts with the repetitions of Steve Reich, the indecisions of Tricky or the wild circus of Tom Waits.

"I always loved repetitive music, i love the contemplating aspect of a moment in music, the joy of the instant overwelmed by the repetitions. It's a transcendental aspect that magnifies sensations, a way to go further emotions." To find his way through music Le Professeur Inlassable found himself a pen, brush to paint sound, two desks, to pick up sound, draw sounds and pitch words to create his own sentences of life. "What I liked about this way of working is the part of hasard, the crossroad of sources that led to other substances, like with human intercourse. That's what I like with repetition, the way to change the sense of a speach, of a poem, or a song from it's primal sense. A way to forget the codes, the trend, just to follow the same mode, the same harmony, the same information." In the Professeur's office many other experimentators stops, other freedom fighters like most famous french guitarist, Nicolas Repac (of Arthur H fame), Kim Fahey, cult icon John Greaves, techno guru from The Dead Sexy Inc. and some other dandys. "What I like is the meeting, the spontaneous feel of the contact with a new universe. That's why there's a lot of first take on that record, to keep the magic moment, the fall into the unknown, that pushes the actor, the musician and the human to crush his habits, his simple behaviours."

Between sessions, cut ups, with errors and miracles of sound, Professeur Inlassable gives us today a plethora of sounds and vision painted and expressed by a man with no barriers and fear. Someone that could be the son of Warhol and DJ Shadow or an Amon Tobin raised on italian soap. Well, here's a real new open door to french touch, to world wide architecture, pick up what you like.
