Lunt

Lunt is the musical alter ego of Gilles Deles, multi-facetted character and musician : craftsman of varied sound experimentations, at times songwriter or sound engineer, invisible theoretician and co-founder of label unique records. After a first eponym album and a split with Virga (Baxendall), Lunt found a fertile ground for creation in improvisation impulsing in the process the creation of the experimental subdivision hitomi recordings. Collaboration with Thom Boudineau for eUd or more recently with Imagho marks a rupture with a certain artistic autarky.

Since 2003, Gilles Deles has been the sound architect of albums which were all critically acclaimed : Angil, Melatonine, Dana Hilliot & Friends, Half asleep, Moonman, Enter the Automaton. Director more than producer, these collaborations were the fruit of a work on empathy, a quest for meaning more than a profusion of means. Technique is put at the service of artistic intention, where the artists may take risks, where little allows a lot by trying to look for new horizons and signifiers. All along these albums we find the same will \\ compromise between lo-fi brutality and new technologies precision, balance between dynamics and space.

Today, Lunt turn again to the writing of songs, comes back to words after having been looking for a language, to tell stories : pain, desire, the disintegration of the being in uncertain times. The coming album will mix the acoustic voluptuousness of folk with atmospheres borrowed from his experimental works, the whole inhabited by an uninhibited and reassured voice... Lunt is to vanish for some time to compose and record at last face to face with himself, and come back when it will still be time to.
