VJ.Fromm has always been regularly attending the famous electro/techno events by Manu « Iso Brown », enlightening the party with his amazing videos. And also as a member of association Absurde, organising many reputed events in Strasbourg, among which festival « Pixel ». The 1st demos date back to 1999. Electronica, hardbeat, ambient : Iso Brown keeps his ears wide open when composing. In 2003, a1st CDr, « Ip E.P. », is released by seriously fun Strasbourg label Byte Burger. Two other short records follow, « Concrete » (2004), « Produced by Bob Rock » (2006), available in free, and a 7" vinyl for subdivision Le Stupide Disque (2005). Every time, his intelligent swinging and incisive dance music hits the right spot.
In 2007, he's back with Lorraine-born Cyanide for label Bruits de Fond, releasing for this occasion his 1st 12''. This pounding and electrified E.P. is totally out of standards. With this attractive series of hits, the Alsace-born fellow gets a genuine critical respêct for this confidential release (300 copies !).
In parallel, Iso Brown is involved in collective La P'tite Maison, « audio curiosity laboratory » offering, most of the time in free download, many productions in the recording field, of ambient music and audio fiddlings at the boundaries of electro-acoustic music.
He has been a mastering engineer for many of these releases, taking part in the excellent compilation « Les souffleurs de bruits vol.1 » and in 2009 under a new name, Torben Nøp. Let (momentarily ?) aside the dancefloor aspect for a more contemplative sound approach, he just delivered a half-hour piece « 1°C », dedicated to the joys of Winter. Between railways echoes, morning-time whispers and snowy electronica, Torben Nøp easily finds his own seat among the ones of other sweet dreamers (the likes of Ryoji Ikeda and collective Dumb Type, Koji Marutani or even Christian Fennesz), obviously close to the radiator. Where it is nice to gather when your ears get too cold, to just close your eyes and get lost in your thoughts... Just go and meet him there !
