At first it was a joke about french « new philosopher » Alain Finkilekraut, and the will to put out the song called « too catholic to fuck », but then The Finkielkrauts became more than this thanks to an amazing creative chemistry.
Their first song was soon followed by the brave « cocksucker no blues » whose video was shot with a plain camera in the streets of tours. Those two songs charmed the local radio (radio beton) and allowed them to play a first gig in Le Bateau Ivre. Then new songs were recorded and the band’s line up took it’s final shape.
The Finkielkraut offer a freaky yet geometric, cold yet free, repetitive and hypnotic blend of rock. They feel like younger brothers of bands such as PIL, NEU, or Sonic youth or french bands such as Frustration, Poni Hoax or Gâtechien.
Their first 5 tracks ep « distance » was done with a hand from rubin steiner who offered to record them after he saw them live.
