Dring Toy

Active member of an explosive musical struggle where machines clash with instruments as varied as surprising, Dring Toy hits with a dub & bass synthesis fed with the mightiest rock energy. Band created in en 2002, Dring Toy used to make a playful electro music where improvisation must make up for the difficulties met by the members to rehearse due to geographic distance. Composed of 4 Bretons (one of them being temporarily exiled to Lyon), the band start a postal and internet correspondence allowing them to share sounds and the progressive construction of the songs. Each gigs then becomes a ground for experimenting the compositions created from a distance, and the members of the band often discover at he same time as the audience does the result of their creations.

The audience is enthusiastic and the communicative energy of their dub & bass synthesis seduces programmers. A musical identity then takes shape while the band reorganise themselves, more precise in their choices, and become more rigorous about the sound matter they wish to elaborate. Geographically reunited, Dring Toy then welcomes a « dj pistolero » sending the fastest and sharpest scratches, as precise as inspired, which notably granted him the title of France Champion 2004 DMC -NUMARK - ORTOFON. Dj Or d'oeuvre on turntables takes place among a multi-instrument combo including a machinist (sampler-sequencer), a guitarist-machinist, a keyboard-harmonica, and a bassist (with or without a bow) - nail violin - and vocals. This configuration quickly reveals itself a promising one, the creation of the songs a more ambitious one. The sonic universe of the band gets richer while breaking away from any musical restriction. The encounter between the laid back aspect of dub, the energy of drum & bass, and the power of rock, gives birth to a very elaborated and personal musical matter.

Enriched by the production of a first album which follows the process of creative exploration chosen by the band, Dring Toy now prepare a tension-filled and powerful live set including many surprises.
