Anirae

ANIRAE releases his first E.P on Ozore Age, mixing breakbeats and downtekno. Dancefloor oriented tunes made of breaking rythms and hypnotic basslines, sometimes hard sometimes cheezy, it always makes you dance!

Anirae grew up in music, surrounded by records of musicians like jimi hendrix, frank zappa, MC5 or the stooges who used to influenced him alot along his life (and do still influenced him alot!). In 1992 he founded a rock band called SMITH TUTTLE where he played lead guitar and vocal. The band made many gigs on local scene which allows him to access recodring studios. That's where he discovered digital drum machines and samplers. He quickly learned how to use this new kind of tools.

Some years later he saw Les Boucles Etrange 's liveset. What a shock!. He quit the band and starts playing tekno... he bought some old sequencers in a 2nd hand store to setup a liveset with old drummachines, and a 20 years old mixer. Trying to tweak these instruments to create unusual noises and sound effects. His first public performance was on a huge 40kw rig set up by SOUND CONSPIRACY ! The style is definitly tekno, going up tempo with minimal beats, many kicking snares and running hihat, inbetween of what he send loops against the beat, and tweaked vocals ...

Very physical, even primal, like anger... so he chose to call himself ANIRAE "the spirit of anger". He released a self-produced CD "UNCONTROLED LIVE EXTRACTS", in which he tried to keep this little piece of magic you can only feel LIVE : Improvision. This interest for impro comes from his basic rock influences and musicians like Hendrix or the Stooges, who are famous for their approach of musical technic : no technic!

During the year 2000 he released another CD called "AE35 UNIT" and start travelling with english sound system KAMIKAZE all around Europe during a long and funky summer session along the road of Italia, Germany, Czech republic and France. This bring him to play in special events like the famous czech teknival where he setup his liveset with four others musicians from OQP, SOUND CONSPIRACY and TOMAHAWK. They played for 12 hours of improvisation altogether on KAMIKAZE's rig. But in september 2000 his head went off, because of serious health problem and he has to stop travelling. He spent his time buildng a new digital recording studio "the FUNHOUSE", and worked on two new CD, "HIC & NUNC" and "R.I.O.T", both based upon jumping beats and breaks with hypnotic leads. His style his changing, waiting to move again on the roads.

Iin 2001 he's able to travel again, and went to play on many differents soundsystems like TOTAL RESISTANCE, TEKNO MOBIL SQUAD or DESERT STORM. His style is quite different now with jumpy beats, breaking snares and bouncing basslines against the beat. Still furious like a "war on the dancefloor" but with alot of positive energy and cheezy stuff. Going from breakbeat to downtekno in the same set, with no transition, surprising the audience to make him dance!. ANIRAE likes to mix different styles, his rock and techno influences gather in his music, furious like Nina Hagen's punk, hypnotic like old dirty techno, breakin like english 2steps. Nothing is forbidden when he plays, not even silence (often forgotten by electronic musicians).

After several years of musical anger he slowly enter a new phasis and starts deconstucting the beat, like rythmic anarchy. This brings him sometimes to use another pseudo : the Digital Anarchitect. In 2003 he releases two new CDs under this name, including a liveset "THE DRAGON DANCE" especially recorded for the Dragon Festival: a gathering of tekno travellers in south Spain. This will be the only liveset played during the festival, once again on KAMIKAZE sound system.

In 2004, at a party, he meets Yann from Ozore Age, both men appear to be quite connected and in the same musical horizons.So they start working together and after a few time it's decided : Ozore Age will produced the first ANIRAE E.P on vinyl ! "Grizzly glitters beats" is made of differents styles BreakTekno, breakbeat, downtekno, with flyin basslines and running snares, slowly entering your ears to break into your brain, and body.

Those tunes have to be played on 10kw rig, that's music for the dancefloor!

ANIRAE is now workin on a future CD album and a DVD to be produced by Ozore Age soon, just wait to see and to listen!
