France is used to welcome quebecians artists for a while, et the new génération find back the same attention as before for artists from Quebec. But, even the best of them (as Ariane Moffat or Cœur de Pirate) couldn't make their way on a real success, succès in medias and success with the audience. The way of ALFA ROCOCO seems to show the duet has more edges than anybody else in Quebec to reconcile quality and success. Come on, It's time to «weigh Anchor» (Lever l'Ancre).
ALFA ROCOCO plays a fresh pop with some retro accent and lighted groove. The band was formed in Quebec in 2004 when Justine Laberge and David Bussières recorded songs just for fun. Due to the infatuation, they decide to remake the expérience and reached a prolific musical complicity which pushed them to record their first album entitled «Lever L'Ancre». The band présents in this album a collection of addictive pop tracks with lyrics which reflect their personnality, sometimes poetic and deep, or uptempo and enlighted.
Even if it is only their first album, both author and composer, it is not
their first experiment in music. David ex-guitarist of the Band DobCaracol, played the whole European tour of the shox Dralion by the Cirque du Soleil. Justine has been a chorist for years and doubled some advertising campaigns. They have finally chosen to record their latest créations in 2007. From the release, the album is un real success and the duet wins 2 Felix Awards in 2008 in the following quategories: «best pop album» and «best new band of the year». The album was in the quebecian top 100 for the year 2008.
ALFA ROCOCO also reach the top of the quebecian radios with 5 different singles (je pense à toi, les jours de pluie, lever l'ancre, la Fenêtre and Plus rien à faire) and 2 of them reach the top 1.
From the release of Lever l'ancre, ALFA ROCOCO don't stop touring to keep a close relation with their audience. The duet plays more than 150 gigs all accross Quebec and the biggest festivals. The beginning of ALFA ROCOCO on this side of the Atlantic is already important with 2 majors festivals in Europe (Francofolies de La Rochelle and Spa) before their big european tour in autumn.
