Sna-Fu (not to be confused with Snafu) combines brisk post-hardcore/screamo with classic rock-influenced southern rock. The catchy melodies and aggressive vocals of this French group make them unique. They’ve released only one album, Tonnerre Binaire (2007), and their new album is slated for 2008.

They’re featured on PlayStation Network’s “Movement” (available for download on PlayStation Store in 720p and SD).

Formed in 2000 in Paris, Sna-Fu was rapidly moved by the influence of Hardcore, Rock & Roll and punk. The band showed its potential from its earliest gigs (with, notably, The Robocop Kraus and Standstill) and obtained the support of national independent labels such as Miser Records and Recap Records.
Influenced by the Swedish hardcore scene (Refused, Abhinanda, Nine, The Hives…) Sna-Fu adopted right at the beginning a style mixing post-rock, screamo and rock & roll that attracts even the most skeptical.
Sna-Fu recorded its first disk at the beginning of 2003 at the Sainte-Marthe Studio in Paris, with the producer Francis Caste. The recording was done entirely live and the majority of the tracks are first takes. The result is a 6 titles CD bursting with energy and mirroring the concerts. Since early 2004 this maxi has been distributed by Overcome Distribution.
2005 was a good year for Sna-Fu. The band mastered its stage performances with a series of stunning explosive shows. In April, Sna-Fu won a special prize from the audience at the final of Starting Rock (a very famous festival in Paris) and was selected for the New Stage Talents at the “Printemps de Bourges” (one of the biggest annual rock event in France) to represent the greater Paris region. The group continues to whip up the crowds and has had several warm-up sessions with well-known groups such as The Dillinger Escape Plan, Sweatmaster, The Bled, Complete, The Fall of Troy, Age Of Ruin …
The band was back in the studio in September 2005, again with Francis Caste in control, producing 12 tracks of pure rock & roll hardcore. The compositions are resolutely fierce, tinted with epic highs and post-apocalyptic lows.
The singing imposes the hardcore flavor particular to Sna-Fu which transcends the intensity of each part. The songs, mainly in English (one is in Finnish) question the loss of individuality, notably through drugs (Stones of Hawaii), or sects (Lights) and provoke reaction (Diligence) without ever sinking into a dark view of the subjects. Sna-fu rebels against conventional themes (White Journey) and excessive introspection (Dorian) while keeping a light touch where declarations of love (Robotoy) anthems to the freedoms and landscapes of the Far West (Route 66) all have their place.
Will 2007 be a year of change? One thing is certain, Sna-Fu has just finished its first album: a jewel of 21st century “hargne” rock’n’roll…
The stages have not finished burning!
