« a secret life « , the first album by Hemlock Smith, was released in December 2002. It's an extraordinary mixture between bittersweet pop, classy electro, twisted blues, acoustic instruments and sonic experiments which, almost from the start, captured the attention of radio stations and the press. Its influences are ranging from Portishead, Talk Talk, the Doors and J.J. Cale.
Subtle, rich and adventurous, this record constitutes an ideal starting point that finally led Hemlock Smith to the wonderfully warm and elaborate sound achieved with the following albums (« Umbrella Fitz & Gerald « <2006> and « Keep the Devil out of Hillsboro" <2009>.
