Following the almost clinical and claustrophobic coldness of "9 : solfatares" (2005) and the tense electro-post-indus climates of the obsessive "Eloge de la compression" (2007), TORSO deliver "rien de nouveau [en quelque sorte]", an evocative title for an album marking a decisive evolution in the music of the Strasbourg duo.
If the sound of TORSO and VinZ's half singing half speaking vocals may now be easily identifiable, the themes they develop have spectacularly changed ; references to post-punk are used with total discrepancy. The structures of the tracks turn out to be richer than ever, choruses appear and humour is scattered here and there among the dark poetry of their expressionist lyrics : "Je sniffe du Biactol pour avoir la peau saine... (: Sniffing Biactol makes my skin clean...)".
The whole participating in making "Rien de nouveau [en quelques sorte]", a surprising and varied album, like a missing link between The Cure and Hubert-Felix Thiéfaine.
