A lot has been written, said and fantasized on Spiral Tribe. This nebula carried a so powerful state of mind that we tend to mention the means of distribution which it imposed rather than the value of its productions. The soundtrack of the DVD ' World Traveller Adventures' (Uwe/2004) evokes it, the triple CD 'Network 23' (Expressillon/2004) compiles the period 1993-1996, but the very first releases, some of which contained slogans which were set up as hymns by a whole movement, such as the famous " You might stop the party but you can't stop the future", are for a long time untraceable.
Back in 1992. In a period that saw the increase of savage rave parties and also their repression, Spiral Tribe had their equipment and trucks seized. The label Big Life which sees in them the Sex Pistols of the future offers a contract which allows them to stay in the business. During this year the album 'Tecno Terra', the three maxis 'Breach The Peace', 'Forward the Revolution', ‘Sirius 23' and a video clip were created. The result, a techno breaked with an MC confused the label so much that it was left on the market only for a few weeks. Nothing that may stop a revolution on the march ! Very quickly, the spiral sound asserts itself as a unique style having since then gained widespread acceptance and therefor carrying its influences beyond the only microcosm of free parties. To celebrate the beginning of a new chapter which sees artists, musicians and DJ's of Spiral Tribe meet again to work together on new music, this part of their discography decorated with unpublished works is republished today on a double CD and four vinyl 'picture discs' combined in a limited edition box.
A percentage of the sales will serve to finance the 'Wild Spiral' project to off-set carbon emissions from past, present and future adventures. Spiral Tribe always propagated a message of symbiosis with nature, a respect for the real "Hardcore" : our mother Earth ! An environmental consciousness too rarely adopted by the new generation.. It is time to act. This new project includes hedgerow and woodland conservation, sustainable community projects, supporting a conservation tree nursery and several initiatives aiming at sustainable development.
