Welcome to the student hall of electronic music ! Launched at the beginning of 98 near Paris, Extra Extra! breaks free from labels and electronica categories with an unbridled mixture of all kinds of music. Extra Extra! cannot learn how to be good kids with their unbridled mixture of house, electro, rocksteady, breakbeat and many other things. A clever mille-feuille entangling the specialists : "Too much big beat", "Not fun enough", "Not dark enough", "Too rock", "Not enough funky filtred", "Out of any category", "Too much kick", "Reggae but not enough", "Not enough pure techno"..., obstacles that pushed them to persevere on its way.
Extra Extra! Has been on stage with several gigs in Paris (Batofar and MCM Café). Olivier mixes live with a desk, filters and effects leaving some space for improvisation and experiments, revisiting the Beastie Boys, House Of Pain, Blur, Beck or Clash (some of their heroes are the like of the Dead Kennedys, Madness, Specials, 3rd Bass, Mantronix, Norman Cook, Who, X and Frank Zappa...).
After the release (BMG) of 3 remixes of "Mandarines" by Marianne James (from "L'Ultima Recital"), their first maxi-EP 4-track vinyl., "Radio Friendly" (CRASH EP 23) was released on 9 may 2000. Atypical but always close to what's cool in the UK, surprising and full of hints they always manage to get you up on the dancefloor !
Also note that a parallel Extra Extra! avatar exists : Subhouse, totally nuts and soaked in Dub Hop (dub and trip hop). After having had one track used for the credits of a show on BBC World, Subhouse will take part in the "Dub Attack" compilation to be released within the end of the Century by Crash.
