Mandala Quartet

Mandala is an acoustic formation formed of two wood instruments, two bras instruments and a percussionist.
During a journey in August 2003, Lionel Rivière and his tuben visit South America. Follows the encounter between his own brass culture and the traditional heritage of Matias Marcipar. They subsequently start residential work session with dancers around research and improvisation. Enriched by this experience, this itinerary, the ensemble gets to its definitive form with Felix foucart on percussions and Julien Varin on tuba, then turning towards world music ans dances : Latin America, Yiddish, European folklore.
The band was born. After a year's work at a more complete repertoire, comes a new step : creations, where, from popular music, every one's compositions give space to improvisation.
