King Kong Was A Cat

In 2005 KKWAC is pre-seleced to represent Lorraine region at Printemps de Bourges and Eurockéennes de Belfort.

In 2006, one of his tracks "Rats" is featured on "Just close to you" the anniversary double compilation of his label We are UNIQUE RECORDS then celebrating their 5th year. The compilation receives great praise from the musical press and King Kong Was A Cat many honors, from Jean Daniel Beauvallet of Inrockuptibles qualifying the record of "jewel" or Magic writing "the too short but wonderful appearance of King Kong Was A Cat ".

From then on Mathieu Lozinguez keeps on working on the preparation and finishing of his first eponym album. The sessions go in-between the work on Melatonine whose new album "Décembre est un Samedi" released early 2007 on the label gets praise from the specialist press and whose touring through France definitely impose them as as the best french noise post-rock band.

Early summer of 2007, the album is completed and despite the long wait, its 12 tracks simply confirm all the hopes already placed in King Kong Was A Cat. From the opening title, Dress, the listener is plunged into a synthetic and rhythmical universe which sets the tone for the entire album. Second track, Système 27, manages to merge the outside serenity of bands like Boards of Canada with the rhythmical harshness of Autechre or Aphex twin. Then, the crazy Rats ; a tribal punk dance, threatening organs on Believe me, counterbalanced later on by the ludic and catchy hip-hop side of Mouskarum. On the surprising first single of the record, Do you mind ?, ideally videotaped by David Myriam, a guitar and a melodica bring an unexpected melancholic touch to the record. King Kong Was A Cat likes to surprise his listeners and always succeeds in doing so thanks to the originality and richness of the sounds he uses. Genial multi-instrumentist, Mathieu Lozinguez knows how to ally his mastering of acoustic/electric instruments (guitars, bass, drums, saw, melodica ...) with his use of machines.
