Spicy Box's and Shout's career having both reach their respective ends one may expect the meeting of the two bands to produce the most furious music ever heard, provided they avoid too much techno-music experiments. Which is the case here. A former lead singer from Spicy Box (the shortest of the two) Fanfan didn't show any sign of life since "Mouvements".
He joins here two former Shout members and under the well-named patronym "Upset", they give away a first album filled with furious anger which reminds of Shout works or... the first Spicy Box record.
Mixing hardcore, world music, and dub elements (the two Lo'Jo Triban female vocalists perform on two tracks) in a kind of tribal crossover, "Jonction" (also one of the best song in the album) introduces a humanistic and political discourse in sometimes critical lyrics ("Epilogue"). This discourse is made sharper by Fanfan's nasal and irate tone of voice, which ensures the listener that he is not faced with another tedious crossover record. It is exactly the contrary here: the production is solid (David Weber), and all you need is listen to Upset's music a few time to acknowledge the great quality of the alchemy that moves "Jonction"'s lively gist.
