After many successful collaborations (Fragile, Ultra Milkmaids), Jean-Louis Prades AKA Imagho made his way through every specificity of sonic experiments, collecting many different projects and going in many different directions. Drone, glitch and feedback savvy one day; jazz-oriented arpeggios composer the other… With his fifth solo album Inside Looking Out, he takes us a step further into the landscapes he depicted in his much acclaimed sophomore release Nocturnes (FBWL, 2002) which stands as a true keystone of his entire work.
Inside Looking Out is to be apprehended as a warm, melodic, instrumental folk album carried by a deep wood sound (Hervé Thomas from Hint and Fragile mastered the record) that puts forward the strong emotional commitment of its author. Even if guitar remains the key element in his music, Imagho's album hosts many guests - voices (David Fenech, Vanessa Saraff); a saxophone (Daniel Palomo Vinuesa) and rhythmic elements (Cyclyk); all of whom help making this electro-acoustic record accessible and come to reinforce its inherent ethereal, dreamscape atmosphere.
We can’t help making comparisons with Bill Frisell, Jim O' rourke or Fred Frith – their lyricism is indeed far from being exhausted… In order to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the creation of Imagho, We Are Unique Records is proud to present this new album Inside Looking Out and rythm/treble 1998-2008 a bonus exclusive CD collecting the best moments of Imagho plus some unreleased tracks.
