Ha Ha! was released in 2000 on Saint-Étienne-based micro-label Premier Disque.
The album's title is a reference to Lisa Germano. There are many in the album: I copied a Fugazi drumming part, stole a walkie-talkie effect from dEUS, you name it...
My friend Étienne Coussirat and I recorded the album in a few weeks, using his analogic 8-track recorder. We worked fast, we needed that. Hence the album cover (a photograph of a ferris wheel).
I know the font looks a bit mid-90s, but there you go, I'm still quite happy with most of the songs in it, especially the ones with a string section.
Little known facts: Pauline Dupuy played cello on Ha Ha!, then we lost track of each other, then met again, and now she plays double bass in Angil & the Hiddentracks. Funny, in'it?
M. Mottet (Angil & the Hiddentracks), Nov ‘08.
