LA GRANDE FORGE is an eight-piece formation gathering French musicians from jazz and improvised music backgrounds, approached for their personality and inventiveness.
The purpose of this new formation is to create a laboratory-orchestra focused on free, open, collective and not conducted improvisation.
Far from the great partitions and arrangements, the writing here is simple, open, efficient, free in instrumentation and in form, always at the service of the encounter, where writing orientates/disorientates the guideline of improvisation. It is the stimulus for inspiration so as to keep a unique freshness, interpretation and form at every performance.
