Des étoiles plein les yeux

Often focused on numerous collective projects (post-rock with melatonine, electro with his label Le Kit Corporation, electro hip hop with Menuet...), Nicolas Tochet sometimes decides to work on his own to fiddle with a more intimate music under the name of 0° (pronounce "zero degré). Even though all these side projects give a large space to instrumental music, under the name of 0°, Nicolas Tochet becomes more talkative and uses his voice for some spoken word like an instrument to give rhythm to the cunning construction of the tracks merging electronica, abstract hip hop and post rock, and spiced up by etherial strings arrangements. A poetic, urban, incantatory universe, with tenace and subtle melancholy, with a sheer universality in the humanity of its narrative.

On his actual first album « Des étoiles plein les yeux », 0°, just like an Arab Strap french pen pal who would have been raised by seminal Diabologum, encapsulates his sharp vision of simple things of everyday life, cools off his string instruments (guitars, basses, violins, cellos...) while warming up his electro loops (samples, rhythms, vocals...). with cut-and-paste as starting postulate, 0° succeeds in forging in the same cauldron melancholic melodies of Hood with the rhythmical thoroughness of a Boards of Canada.

And, to feel a bit less lonely through climatic exploration, 0° convokes the soft warm voices of his friends Angil (neighbor to the label) and Cascadeur (one of the winner of the CQFD contest by Inrockuptibles, next door neighbor) to warm up the atmosphere on two tracks, as well as the whirling strings of magician Le Chapelier Fou (from label Ici D'ailleurs) to freeze up track « une boule in la gorge ».
Mastered by Mathias Delplanque (Lena, dDamage, Depth Affect, ...), co-produced by our label with Le Kit Corporation, « Des étoiles plein les yeux » shall be released on April 1st 2009 just to make the freshness of winter last a little longer. We Are Unique Records is proud to present you this atypical album, which the first on the label daring to assume the tongue of Molière.
