Sweetness and violence are like the two poles of the music made by Abaji. They are the basis of his art like the roots to his imagination. Abaji was born in the country of cedars « from a father a bit from Greece and a mother a bit from Turkey », he left his burnt down homeland in 1976 to come to France and finish his university studies - martial arts and alternative medicine - and above all invest in his secret passion, music.
The encounter of a fellow exile, Gabriel Yared, sets up his fate, this eclectic composer encourages him and supports him. In his luggage, Abaji carries the strangest of instruments : a five-string sitar-guitar built by stringed-instrument maker Team Laser, it will become his signature. He turns this guitar into an Oriental violin with the use of his bow.
