Bedouin Blues

Description

Was it necessary to leave Beirut to find peace on other shores ? Break the bonds with sweet Lebanon to fall into the singular toughness of Paris, the cosmopolitan city! Sweetness and violence are like the two poles of the music made by Abaji. They are the basis of his art like the roots to his imagination. Abaji was born in the country of cedars « from a father a bit from Greece and a mother a bit from Turkey », he left his burnt down homeland in 1976 to come to France and finish his university studies - martial arts and alternative medicine - and above all invest in his secret passion, music.
The encounter of a fellow exile, Gabriel Yared, sets up his fate, this eclectic composer encourages him and supports him. In his luggage, Abaji carries the strangest of instruments : a five-string sitar-guitar built by stringed-instrument maker Team Laser, it will become his signature. He turns this guitar into an Oriental violin with the use of his bow.
Singer, writer, composer with nomad moods, unexpected melodist, Abaji is invited on stage to open for Suzanne Véga, Geoffrey Oryema, Julien Clerc, Leon Redbone, John Mc Laughlin, Sapho, l'Orchestre National de Barbès… plays on stages all over Europe and Canada....

Today Abaji sets his new album on orbit « Bédouin' Blues » Fairplay / Distribution Socadisc - towards 2001 Odyssey, the record of maturity. After exile, here comes the time for peace, open to all the paths of imagination.
