On twin male/female vocal led Research The Race realise ambitions of capturing the bigger spaces of Pixies and the emotive Americana of The National, but inform them with a distinctly English sensibility. As Unpeeled put it, "The Race are very American in the way they attack their material and that makes for real power in delivery, but they're quite European in the way that they laminate their sound with layer on layer, a very cool combination".
