Since their first opus in 99, the quartet from Paris has travelled through almost all of Europe (England, Germany, Finland, Estonia, Slovenia, Hungary, Switzerland, Belgium, Croatia, Netherlands, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland...), until becoming one of the most renowned French bands on the international squats / DIY / alternative circuit, but slightly neglecting France, where equivalent radical structures remain exceptional. Still, their reputation has grown over here, like the one of a united and honest combo, always there to support just causes are ready for amazing shows with an intensity and sincerity rarely seen anywhere else. They even got catalogued, by people who hadn't listened to them yet, as a standard punk hardcore band... hence the stupor of those who discovered that their live wall of sound was closer to the Thugs (from whom they cover "Birthday"), Ramones, Parabellum, Dead Boys or Sheriff than grindcore or crust !
"Aussi long sera le chemin", 10 tracks digipack (CRASH CD 41), recorded at studio du Hurlement (ex-Grosse Rose, the Bordeaux studio created by members of Noir Désir), should be the chance to reset all your clocks. Special treat : a vinyl edition is also released in Germany by Skuld Releases, renowned anarcho-punk label (Oï Polloi, Fleas and Lice, Harum Scarum, Aus-Rotten, Sin Dios...), which had already successfully distributed the first opus.
The first listening is enough to realize the accomplished progress between the two albums, particularly on a structural and organisation level, with jerkier and more dynamic tempos. The production accentuates the power and diversity of compos, still in a pure punk-rock'n'roll vein, sometimes close to garage, but also flirting with 80's US punk (superb "Help Yourself"). In terms of collaborations on the records we find old friends : Spi (OTH) again, on "Dansez les morts", and Jean (Schlitz), second guitar on five tracks. Continuity with the precedent record is total, the first track "Le chemin" being a bridge between the two eras, and the new instrumental "Odolnost" appears as the logical sequel to "Widerstand" : huge compact sound, beautiful guitar parts, upbeat rhythmic, and still those epic lyrics and this feminine singing that make a classy difference. The writing of the songs, based on experience, remains quite dark, but the whole sounds like both a warning and hope message, determined and combative. A contemporary liberal shambles where hardliners fight the system... As Long As The Road May Be.
